Shivratri is the most auspicious day for the devotees of Lord Shiva. Monthly Shivratri falls every month on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha. The day coming in the month of Sawan is also known as Sawan Shivratri. The day is meant to appease Lord Shuva with pure devotion in him. Let\u2019s have a look upon the customs of the day \u2013
\nThe fast starts from the day before. Devotees should eat one time on the previous day that is trayodashi. On the day of Shivratri, the fast is observed without consuming a single drop of water.<\/p>\n

Devotees who observe strict fasts must take their bath only in boiled water with sesame seeds. This washes impurities of both body and soul.<\/p>\n

Rashifal 2019<\/a><\/p>\n

The Pooja must contain Bael Leaves, Paan Patta, Diya, Sindoor, Dhoop (Incense) and Rice & Fruits.<\/p>\n

Devotees who keep fast can eat fruits and milk during day time if not keeping the strict fast.<\/p>\n

Devotees should not consume meal after sunset.<\/p>\n

The fast is strict and involves continuous participation till night. Devotees chant mantras of Lord Shiva for whole night.<\/p>\n

The holy bath on the shivlinga from milk and honey is very important and auspicious. The bath must be given every three hours.<\/p>\n

One must not sleep during the night if the person is on strict fasts.
\nIt is a ritual of listening the stories of various legendary works of Lord Shiva on the night.<\/p>\n

Devotees can break their fast on the next morning by eating Prasad. It must be done between sunrise and before the end of chaturdashi day.<\/p>\n

Devotees who are taking health precautions should not observe the fast.<\/p>\n
