Putrada Ekadashi – A step towards Parenthood

Putrada Ekadashi – a step towards parenthood, falls two times in a year, one in Shravana Shukla Paksha and other one in Paush Shukla Paksha. It is also known as Pavitra Ekadashi.

The day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Mainly vaishnava followers observe fast and worship Lord Vishnu. Ekadashi will begin from 13th August, 4:35 and will end on 14th August, 5:32.

Hinduism strongly support the idea of having a son due to essential rituals at the time of birth, death and after death. So, not having a son becomes a problem for many couples.

Couples who are not able to conceive a boy child must observe a fast on Putrada Ekadashi.

The fast must be ended after the sunrise on 12th lunar day that is dwadashi. Not doing so is considered an offence. Do not break the fast in first one fourth duration that is Hari Vasara.

The fast is observed by the parents for the well being of their children.

Grains, cereals, beans and spices should not be consumed on this day. One can eat fruits and milk. The day provides healthy and happy life.

Couples who are deprived of any child can also keep this fast.
