Navratri 2025 Sharad Navratri

Navratri 2025 will be observed from September 22, 2025, to Wednesday, 1st October  2025. This is the Sharad Navratri, the most widely celebrated among the four Navratris in a year.

Ghatasthapana / Kalash Sthapana: The beginning ritual is on 22 Sept 2025 in the morning (approx. between 6:09 AM to 8:06 AM, local time) for good muhurat.

The festival runs through the phases of the lunar calendar until Vijayadashami /
Dussehra on 2 October 2025

Why It Is Called Sharad Navratri

  • The word Sharad means autumn season in Sanskrit.

  • This Navratri falls in the Ashwin month (Sept–Oct) during the transition from monsoon to autumn.

  • Hence, it is called Sharad Navratri, distinguished from Chaitra Navratri (springtime) and the less popular Magha and Ashadha Navratris.

  • It is also considered the most powerful Navratri, when Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.

Significance of Navratri in Our Life

  1. Spiritual Cleansing – The 9 days symbolize purifying our mind, body, and soul by focusing on discipline, prayer, and devotion.

  2. Inner Strength – Worship of Goddess Durga awakens shakti (inner power) and helps overcome obstacles in life.

  3. Balance of Energies – Each day is dedicated to one form of Durga (Navadurga), teaching us courage, wisdom, love, discipline, and prosperity.

  4. Health & Lifestyle Reset – Traditionally, people follow fasting, satvik food, and meditation, which help detox the body and mind.

  5. Victory of Good Over Evil – Reminds us to conquer inner negativity (anger, greed, ego) and embrace virtues.

Here are the main steps:
