KP Astrology – II
Before going into the calculation of significators let us have an understanding of houses in KP. Sri KSK advised “Placidus system” of house division. House is the area between two cuspual points. Therefore every house has a beginning point and its ending point itself will be the starting point for the next house.
The lord of the sign where the cuspual point falls is called as “house lord”/ Bhava lord. (it doesn’t matter whether this point is in the beginning of the sign or ending of it). Sometimes due to the latitude of the place two or more cuspual points may fall in the same sign. Then that sign lord is considered as house lord for all the points in it! The sign without a cuspual point is called as “intercepted sign”.
In KP there is a different theory for how houses are favourable and unfavourable to one and the other. This is the theory behind it:
No event will take place depending upon only one house (like marriage-7th house). Every event needs to be supported by other houses also and this is called as grouping of houses. Even though event is the combination of few houses, the deciding factor will be the principle house only.
Following table will explain few events for clarity:
Readers should note that houses 6-8-12 counted from any house will damage or hinder the matters of that house exempting few houses. For example 2nd house is 8th counted from 7th house but it is not considered negative for marriage. Similarly 9th house is 6th house counted from 4th house of education but still it is considered favourable.
However 12th house to any house will surely undo the significations of that house.
Following table will shed some light on it:
Now coming to the point of calculating significators for a house, follow these simple steps :
- See whether there is any occupant in that house or not, if yes then
- Note that occupant and the three stars belonging to it.
- Find if there is any planet in any of those three stars of that occupant and place under the column “A”
- Place the occupant under the column “B”.
- Note the planets in the stars of owner of the house and place under column “C”.
- Note the owner of the house and place it under the column “D”.
The following points should be kept in mind:
- If there is no planet in the stars of occupant/s then Occupants themselves become strongest significators and said to possess “positional strength”.
- If there are no occupants of the house, then planets in the stars of owners will become strong signficators. In such a situation, even if there is no planet in the stars of the house lord too, then ultimately house lord will give the result.
- If only 1 or 2 planets become the significators of a house, then planets conjoined and aspected by them can be termed as significators too.
- Give importance to Rahu-Kethu. They are called as “nodes”. They are not mundane bodies but mere magnetic points with special working. They will represent planets in contact with them. Its better to use the word “replace” than “represent” as they are such influential.
They use the following order while representing planets”
- Planets conjoined with them
- Lord of the star in which they are tenanted
- Planets aspecting them
- Lord of the sign in which they occupy
